Refuah was founded in 1998 as a Project of the Eshet Chayil
Foundation in loving memory of Sandra Lynn Baruch, a true
Eshet Chayil, and in response to the overwhelming tragedies and
illnesses besieging Jewish communities around the globe.
project seeks to promote Ahavat Yisrael (Love for one’s fellow
Jew) through the mitzvah of V’Ahavta L’Reyacha Kamocha (Love
your neighbor as yourself) in an attempt to bring bountiful
blessings to Klal Yisrael, including recovery for those who are sick.
Just as illness and tragedy do not discriminate between different
kinds of Jews, the Ahavat Yisrael being generated through
Operation Refuah crosses all boundaries as well.
history has shown us that Sinat Chinam (baseless hatred) has
always led to tragedy and destruction; therefore it stands
to reason that Ahavat Chinam (unconditional love) should have
the potential to bring good things to the Jewish People. In
times of tragedy, whether within one specific community or
the Jewish community at large, all differences are usually

Refuah seeks to promote this unity and love for one’s fellow
Jew under normal, everyday circumstances with the hope that
the Ahavat Yisrael thus generated will result in Divine protection
and benevolence for both individuals and their communities,
and Klal Yisrael. By signing the Operation Refuah scroll and renewing your committment to the mitzvah of Loving your Fellow Jew, YOU are making a very important contribution to bringing true refuah into the world.
mitzvah of V’Ahavta L’Reyacha Kamocha is considered to be
the very foundation of our Torah. Many of the social ills
in our society can be traced back to a lack of adherence to
this basic commandment. When this mitzvah is neglected, much
ill will and suffering can result. However, when this mitzvah
is observed properly tremendous love, compassion, hope, and
comfort comes into our world. Please join Operation Refuah
and help to turn things around for the good!
